Answers

  1. What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is the study of human movement, performance, and function by applying the sciences of biomechanics, anatomy, physiologypsychology, and neuroscience. A kinesiologist is a health care professional who uses exercise as a means of prevention and treatment.

  2. Do all kinesiologists work the same way?
All Kinesiologists utilize exercise and human movement to reach various client objectives. There are several specialties within the profession including:
    • Adapted physical activity
    • Cardiac rehabilitation
    • High performance
    • Personal training, etc.

  3. How do your kinesiologists work?
During your first appointment, the kinesiologist will ask about your medical history and your past experiences with exercise or inactivity. He/she will perform a physical assessment to determine your strengths, your limitations, your pain, and will inquire about your goals. The initial assessment will take between 60 and 120 minutes.
After your first appointment, the kinesiologist will prepare your personalised training program, they will accompany you during your sessions and make the necessary changes as you progress.

  4. What can a kinesiologist do for me?
This depends on your physical limitations (condition), your goals, the frequency at which you see your kinesiologist and how often you follow your training program. But in short, by working with your kinesiologist, you will have a better health (fitness, less pain, better sleep, less weight (if this is the goal), decreased blood pressure, etc).

  5. Is it expensive?
The cost of a session with one of our kinesiologists in your home compares favorably to that of a physiotherapist or chiropractor in their clinic. As a member of the ANQ (Quebec Association of Naturopaths), Fun-Fit issues you a receipt for your insurance or your taxes.

  6. Do I have to buy special equipment?
No, you do not need to buy equipment because our kinesiologists supply you with the necessary equipment during your sessions.

  7. How many sessions are needed to solve my problems?
This depends on your physical condition, the number of times you meet with the kinesiologist, how often you exercise and your goals. Each case is unique.

  8. How many sessions will it take before I see results?
This can vary from person to person but usually after 3-6 weeks you should see your first results.

  9. Can this be dangerous for my condition?
A key goal that our kinesiologists apply is to always prioritise safety while helping you work towards your goals of better health. The program provided to you by the kinesiologist was created specifically for you, based on your past and present medical history and thus is not a danger to your condition when supervised and done properly.

  10. Are there contraindications?
The human body is made to be moving and active, and thus it's very rare that there are contraindications to using kinesiology services. All kinesiologists are university graduates, and are very familiar with the human body, disease, physical limitations and the effects of exercise on them.
